DIR-3 KYC is the filing through which every holder of a Director Identification Number (DIN) confirms and updates personal details with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA). It is required under Rule 12A of the Companies (Appointment and Qualification of Directors) Rules, 2014. If it is not filed on time, the DIN is deactivated.
Last updated: October 2026. Rules, forms, due dates and fees can change, so we confirm your exact due date on the MCA portal before filing.
A DIN is a unique identification number for a person who wants to be a director of a company. DIR-3 KYC keeps the details linked to that DIN, such as name, PAN, address, mobile number and email, accurate and verified. The MCA uses these details to contact directors and to authenticate their filings.
Until 2026, DIR-3 KYC had to be filed every year by 30 September. Under the amended Rule 12A, effective 31 March 2026, the intimation is filed once in every third consecutive financial year, on or before 30 June, in a single web form. Because your exact due year depends on your last filing, you should check your status on the MCA portal.
Missing the due date has real consequences. A deactivated DIN cannot be used to sign or file forms such as DIR-12 or the annual return, which can hold up the whole company's compliance. For forms and your DIN status, visit the Ministry of Corporate Affairs at mca.gov.in. If you are changing the board, see our change in director service.

The cost depends on whether the filing is on time, how many directors are involved and whether the DIN has been deactivated. It generally has three parts:
No fee for a periodic filing made on time. A late filing or reactivation attracts a fee, and a fresh filing to update details mid-cycle attracts a separate fee. The schedule can change, so we confirm the current fee before filing.
Our fee depends on the number of directors and the situation. Call free for a custom quote before you pay anything.
A Digital Signature Certificate, an updated PAN or address proof and pending company filings after reactivation are charged separately.
