GST Registration is the process of registering with (GST) Goods and Services Taxes (GST) Department, GST is an Indirect tax levied on most goods and services sold for domestic consumption. Consumers pay the GST, but it is forwarded to the government by the businessmen selling the products and services. Primarily, GST generates revenue for the government.

 

                         WHEN IS NEW GST REGISTRATION COMPULSORY?

GST registration is not compulsory for farmers who are involved in the cultivation and supply of agricultural products, making supplies that are fully covered under reverse charge, or simply exempting the supply of goods and services. Smaller taxpayers benefit greatly by registering under the GST composition scheme as it reduces their tax burden. However, the following individuals and businesses must complete GST registration:

Those registered under earlier taxation laws (VAT, service tax, excise, etc.).
Businesses exceeding specific threshold limits (Rs. 40 lakh for small enterprises and Rs. 10 lakh for North-Eastern states, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, as per new rules).
If a business is selling inter-state
If out of state business participating in any event/trade fair as a casual taxpayer
If a business wants to raise tax invoices for its customers
Non-resident taxable person and the contingent taxable person
Those who pay tax under reverse charge mechanism
Individuals involved in e-commerce or supplying goods through e-commerce platforms.
The person involved in import or export business

                             GST REGISTRATION PROCEDURE EXPLAINED

step 1
Enter the details of PAN card, PAN number, e-mail ID, taxpayer / GST practitioner/tax deductor, state / UT and district you reside in, name of taxpayer / GST practitioner etc. And submit the phone number and the same to fill GST REG-01

Get an email and mobile OTP to verify and log in the account

Save the application reference number [ARN] sent to your phone number and email ID after verification

step 4
Fill GST ARN number and attach supporting documents where needed

Step 5
Complete the automatically generated form GST REG-03 if further information is required

Step 6
After verifying all the information provided, a certificate of registration will be issued within three working days

 

                         DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR GST REGISTRATION

The documents needed to be based on the type of business you are operating. Below documents are necessary for GST Registration: –

  • Permanent Account Number (PAN) of the business entity
  • Passport Size Photograph
  • Aadhar card or Driving License or Passport
  • Address proof of business premises
  • Bank Statement or Cancel cheque or Passbook

Additional documents are required for PRIVATE LIMITED COMPANY/OPC/LLP/ Partnership Firm

  • Certificate of Incorporation in case of Limited Liability Company, OPC or LLP
  • Partnership Deed in case of partnership firm
  • Opening page of Bank statement held in the name of Business or Proprietor.
  • Letter of authorization or board resolution

Once all the documents visit GST website https://www.gst.gov.in/and update all the documents and Get the ARN number post verification GST Department, GST Certificate will be issued in 3 to 7 Working days if clarification is requested then the time limit is 15 to 20 working days
